Tetso College celebrated its first Virtual HSSLC Graduation Ceremony on 13th June, 2020. Around 70 students, staff, family and well wishers attended to witness the passing out ceremony of 50 HSSLC graduates from the Arts and Commerce Stream. The Special Guest and Commencement Speaker for the occasion was Mr. Chumben Ngullie, Deputy Commandant, Central Industrial Security Force as commencement speaker. The ceremony is now available on the Tetso College Youtube channel for those who could not attend.
In the Director’s address, Mr. Kvulo Lorin congratulated the HSSLC Class of 2020 for their success. He sympathised with the students for not being able to conduct the graduation on-campus and in-person with everyone yet applauded the students for adapting so quickly to the new world order. He highlighted how the staff and students of the College were able to respond so quickly to the change brought upon by the global COVID-19 outbreak. He touched upon all the salient developments including publications, collaborations & collaborative research, webinars with distinguished visitors, student activities, as part of the response.
Encouraging the graduating students to view the pandemic with a positive outlook, the Director reminded that new opportunities will come knocking as they begin a new chapter in their lives. “Your graduation from Tetso College is your ticket to be part of that change,” he added.
The Commencement Speaker, Mr. Chumben Ngullie, stressed on the future careers of the students and asserted that their goals should be carried out with clear focus and discipline to achieve wholesome development. While presenting a brief history about his own aspirations, he stated that passion, commitment and hard work are the important key factors for anyone to become successful in their endeavours. He also alluded that students must accept challenges with undaunting spirit to overcome them. In conclusion, he wished all the students a bright future and a happy graduation.
Valedictorian Iziedile Ngia spoke on behalf of the graduating class and thanked all the stakeholders involved in shaping their lives, especially the teachers for pushing them and encouraging them never to give up. “Over the last two years here at Tetso, the most important thing that we have learned is to work together as a team,” Iziedile reflected, and was optimistic that “the graduating class will continue to believe in the virtue of unity because where there is unity, there is victory,” she concluded.
In the Closing Remarks, Ms. Kahor Raleng, Assistant Dean, Tetso College expressed gratitude towards the participants for the success of the event and gave a bird’s eye view of the achievements of the students and the laurels that they had brought to the Institution. She emphasized on the importance of implementing all the knowledge, skills, and the values they have acquired and urged them to carry forward them in life. She also advised the students to equip themselves with new skills and knowledge to face the challenges and to excel in their career. Adding a touch of nostalgia to the ceremony, a video capturing the moments spent by the graduating class and their achievements was also streamed. The programme was chaired by Ms. Mulatoli Awomi, Assistant Professor, Tetso College while the Invocation Prayer was pronounced by Mrs. Shasinle Lorin and a special song was sung by Ms. Mhashelenu Hibo, Class 12.
