Sammy Hamar Phukan is winner of Dance Battleground 2023
Tetso Arena (Tetso College) organized the second edition of Dance Battleground 2023 at Lorin Hall, Tetso College, Sovima on July 8, 2023, which saw the winner Sammy walk home with a cash prize of 15K. The event was graced by Theja Meru, Chairman, TaFMA as the special guest and brought together an array of 12 gifted dancers who dazzled the audience with their
electrifying performances, pushing the boundaries of artistry and creativity.
The competition followed a 1 vs 1 Open Style knockout format, with solo dancers going head-to-head, captivating the audience with their impressive choreography, flawless technique, and captivating stage presence. The dance styles ranged from hip-hop and contemporary to breakdancing, popping, and locking, adding a diverse and dynamic element to the event.
In his keynote address, Theja Meru impressed upon the audience three ‘E’s – to excel in everything, to exceed beyond expectation, and to explore all possibilities.
As the battles progressed, guest performances by Young Buds, a group of four beautiful talented girls, from Tseminyu District added an extra layer of excitement and artistry.
After intense battles and fierce competition, Sammy Hamar Phukan from Guwahati claimed the first-place title with a captivating routine, seamlessly blending technical skill with emotional expression. Debojit Das aka Xaiko from Tezpur secured the second place with a cash of 10K, leaving the audience breathless with his exceptional performance.
The judge for the competition was Ao Wapang aka Neo Gotham and was hosted by MC Shang and Seiwang.
As the curtain fell on this remarkable event, it left behind a legacy of creativity, passion, and a burning desire to continue pushing the boundaries of dance as an art form.
