Tetso College celebrates 4th Graduation Day

Tetso College held its commencement ceremony for the outgoing Class of 2022 on the 15th of July, 2022 with Dr. Kethoser (Aniu) Kevichusa as the commencement speaker. This was the first in-person graduation exercise since the pandemic and a grand success with an impressive 351 candidates from various disciplines receiving their baccalaureate degrees for the completion of their respective courses.

The program began with the students’ procession led by the batch valedictorian along with the esteemed college heads, commencement speaker, special guests, and faculty. Attendees also included the parents of the students, various media persons, and well-wishers of the students and the college.

Following a powerful invocation by Rev. Candid Sareo, Dr. Hewasa Lorin took to the stage for the principal’s address. Dr. Lorin expressed her joy and gratitude to the Class of 2022 for their commendable efforts and encouraged the students to take the “Tetso Advantage” to continue achieving success in their future pursuits. She exhorted the students to take the sum of all the experiences they’ve had at Tetso to keep striving for excellence (Tetso’s motto), to keep being “committed and relentless” towards their aspirations and to keep “dreaming,” “thinking,” and especially “doing.” Dr. Lorin concluded her address by highlighting the importance of nurturing a like-minded community of Tetso alumni and to keep rooting for all within it.

The attendees were then serenaded with a special number by the Tetso Music Club after which Ms Akhumla Sangtam, the class valedictorian gave the Valedictorian Speech. Ms Akhumla topped the NU in BBA with an outstanding 6.62 CGPA, and expressed her immense gratefulness to the Tetso management, faculty, and students for her achievements. She also thanked her parents for their unceasing support throughout her journey.

Then came the much-anticipated commencement address by Dr. Kethoser Kevichusa. Dr. Kevichusa elucidated upon the meaning of the word ‘commencement’ and how though as a ceremony it is seen as a conclusion, it actually means ‘to begin something.’  He also spoke of King David from the Bible and the importance of servanthood and service and how witnessing for the Lord need not necessarily be only by those fully involved in Christian ministry. He encouraged believing students to continue witnessing their faith whether in the religious or secular sphere.

The commencement exercise finally took place with students receiving their baccalaureate degrees from the esteemed Heads of Departments of Tetso, various Tetso faculty, and the special guests. The atmosphere was abuzz with cheers from proud attendees. The program then came to an end with a mass benediction after which photo sessions and meet and greets took place followed by a bountiful dinner.
