Tetso College is affiliated to Nagaland University (NU), accredited by NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council) and recognised under 2 (f)& 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. Tetso College is a multidisciplinary PG college offering programs from the undergraduate to the postgraduate level in professional (BBA, BCA etc), humanities and commerce streams with a student demography across India.
The College was established in 1994 and is sponsored by the Council of Rengma Baptist Churches. Since its inception Tetso College has been an institution for students from all backgrounds and walks of life who are driven and committed towards learning and lifelong excellence. Tetso College has been an innovator in higher education with top-ranked academic programmes aimed at promoting a global vision through its wide network of collaborations with both foreign and domestic universities and institutions, industry, government, media houses and NGOs to further the institution’s mission and vision.
The academic programmes are rigorous and demanding, and also encompass a wide variety of experience and growth for all round development of students. It is grounded in digital learning and teaching through the integration of Google for Education, online courses, practical learning through internships, community outreach initiatives within the indigenous community and research development through Department and student research projects. Some of the recently introduced academic programmes include BA in Mass Communication, BA Linguistics, Bachelors of Computer Applications. A new addition in 2023 is the Bachelors of Social Work programme.
Tetso College has a diverse teaching and student profile, counting among its faculty recipients of scholarly achievements as gold medalists and awardees of research projects in their respective disciplines. Tetso staff and students come from not only the neighbouring states in the North East but across the different states in India allowing for cross cultural learning and a diverse learning environment. The College offers Scholarships that are both merit and financial need based for students. Tetso College takes its role seriously as an institution that promotes social mobility and representation of the larger indigenous community.
The Tetso Alumni Network has a vast presence succeeding at the international, national and state front with many of its alumni in academia, pursuing higher education and as working professionals in the corporate, government and private sector.

About the Founder
Lt. DR. P. S. LORIN (Educationist & Social Activist) (November 1, 1953 – May 31, 2021) Dr. P.S. Lorin’s educational journey began from Phenshunyu Village, after which he went to Shillong for his graduation at St. Edmund’s College. He completed his MA (Political Science) from Delhi University and MPhil (International Legal Studies) at JNU, New Delhi. He then secured a Full Bright Scholarship from the United States – India Educational Foundation to pursue his PhD (Higher Education) at Southern Illinois University(SIU), Carbondale, Ill, USA and also completed MS (Community Development) from SIU. Dr. P.S. Lorin was an active Social Activist as a member in many organisations – Forum for Naga Reconciliation, Founding Convener, Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights, President, Naga Students’ Union Delhi, Advisor, Rengma Hoho, President, Rengma Students’ Union, Member, Governing Body, North East Zone Cultural Centre. In the field of education his engagements include President, Nagaland College Principals’ Forum; President, Nagaland Private College Principals’ Association; Principal, Alder College, Kohima; Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, North Eastern Hill University; Member, Executive Council, Nagaland University; Member, High Powered Committee on Higher Education, Government of Nagaland; Member, Governing Council, Northeast Christian University; Member, Board of Studies, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous); Member, State Level Quality Assurance Coordination Committee -Nagaland; Member Coordinator, Peer Team, National Assessment and Accreditation Council. He also served as the President, Council of Rengma Baptist Church Council. In 1994 he established Tetso College and passed away as the Founder and Principal Emeritus of Tetso College. In Memoriam
Recent Collaborations & Projects
The college conducted digital training programmes for schools particularly at the start of the pandemic and has continued to work with multiple organisations and agencies over the years.- The Morung Express – The college publishes a weekly column called Degree of thought that focuses on current issues and trends in our society.
- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) – Partnered with TCS for their Youth Employability Programme 2021 as part of their CSR initiative in 2021 and previous years.
- Tata Steel foundation – Partner in organising the Regional Samvaad – a prelude to the main Samvaad, leading to the organization of a “REGIONAL SAMVAAD” in the four corners of the country – West, South, Central and North-East. These are planned as one and a half day events to facilitate more & richer participation of communities regionally.
- University of Melbourne – Leading Together Dialogue on Women and Leadership. The themes for 2021 are based on the UN’s sustainable goals – education, technology, sustainability and health.
- National Commission for women ( in progress) – Funding a research project titled “Challenges under Cyberspace: The Exploratory Study of the Ramifications of Cyber Crime for Women in Nagaland.”
- Indian Council of Social Science Research – Sponsor body of National Level Seminars with various Departments (English, History and others) of the College.
- NAAC – Collaboration with IQAC cell for a Faculty Development Programme on Rethinking Critical Theory and Praxis.
- Internships with the following organisations and companies: Heritage Publishing House, Big Bazaar, Entrepreneur Associates, The Morung Express, etc.
