Purpose
The Women Cell at Tetso College serves a distinct and imperative role, meticulously guided by the mandates stipulated in Section 3.2 (15) of the UGC Guidelines. Established upon a robust and enduring foundation, the Women Cell is ardently committed to the cause of ensuring parity and equity for the female populace. Its principal objectives encompass the promotion of non-discrimination, the cultivation of an unwavering intolerance toward any misuse of authority against women, and the earnest endorsement of the paramount significance of fostering open discourse, deliberation, and dialogue to elevate awareness concerning matters pertaining to women.
In its organizational capacity, the Women Cell conscientiously directs its efforts towards several pivotal domains. These encompass the augmentation of women’s safety, the propagation of gender sensitization, the redressal of legal, property, and societal rights issues, and the implementation of necessary interventions as the exigency arises. The Women Cell’s endeavours are characterized by an unceasing, iterative, and unwavering commitment to empowering young women through a multifaceted array of initiatives.
Furthermore, the Women Cell exhibits a steadfast dedication to extending the sphere of its influence beyond the confines of secure environs, with a particular focus on reaching out to women hailing from less privileged backgrounds. These noble endeavours encompass the dissemination of awareness regarding women’s rights, impassioned advocacy for equitable remuneration, assiduous endeavours towards gender parity, and the conscientious attention to other salient aspects necessitating redress. In its essence, the Women Cell’s purpose is to champion the rights and well-being of women in both academic and community settings.
Objectives
- The Women Cell aims to foster a deep understanding of women’s issues in society and to identify instances of discrimination against women across various domains by organizing informative talks, workshops, and movie screenings.
- The Women Cell strives to initiate dialogues and enhance awareness both within and beyond the college campus, creating a supportive and secure environment where individuals can openly discuss and support women’s causes.
- The Women Cell is committed to making recommendations to the college administration for the establishment of a safe and inclusive campus environment. Additionally, the cell endeavours to facilitate the allocation of resources to support women faculty in their research pursuits.
- The Women Cell contributes to capacity building among young individuals, equipping them to champion the cause of women’s rights. This is achieved by providing training and experiential learning opportunities as they take on roles within the society’s leadership.
- Ultimately, the Women Cell’s overarching objective is to empower future advocates who can carry forward the mission of gender equality and women’s rights in society, fostering a more inclusive and equitable future
