Voluntary Blood Donation Camp

The Red Ribbon Club of Tetso College in collaboration with CIHSR Blood Centre organized a ‘Voluntary Blood Donation Camp’ at CIHSR on 16th September, 2022.

Brought together by their common interest for humanitarian acts, a group of valiant students along with Tetso RRC Nodal Officer, Ms. Senjumbeni K Jami, volunteered and donated their blood to serve a greater purpose of sustaining human lives.

World Suicide Prevention Day

The Department of Psychology observed World Suicide Prevention Day on 9th September 2022 by distributing flyers and creating awareness and prevention, putting up of posters in the campus and distribution of badges. On 10th September, students were also engaged in community outreach program by creating awareness through distribution of flyers, discussions, and distribution of suicide prevention badges.

Healing of the Land: Naga Ancestral Remains

Tetso College and Recover, Restore and Discover (RRaD) Team conducted a lecture cum interactive session on 9th September 2022 titled ‘Healing of the Land: Naga Ancestral Remains’ on Repatriation and Recovery of Human Remains from Pitts River’s Museum, an on going project which was initiated to bring back Naga human remains.

Women Cell Activities

 

The Women Cell of Tetso College participated in the “Awareness Camp on Adolescent Girls, Pregnant Women, Lactating Mothers Health & Nutrition and Anemia Camp” organised by the Social Welfare Department as part of the “Rashtriya Nutrition Mission (National Nutrition Abhiyaan)” on the 10th of September 2022 at Medical Colony Anganwadi Center.

The seminar focused on the importance of antenatal care and institutional delivery, breastfeeding, immunization, menstrual hygiene, and anemia screening for adolescents and lactating mothers; importance of vitamins, supplements for children and deworming. The participants were screened for anemia, followed by consultation with Medical Officers from the District Hospital Dimapur.

Women Cell also visited the Sakhi – One Stop Center Dimapur which is a centrally sponsored scheme for the National Mission for Empowerment of Women to offer integrated support towards women affected by violence. The students also had an interactive session with the coordinator and in-house counsellor of Sakhi Dimapur and the Child Development Project Officer of Dimapur Urban.

NCC Interaction

Commanding Officer Manjeet Katoch of 1 Naga Girl’s Bn. accompanied by 2 PI army staff visited our campus on 12th September 2022 and interacted with the Principal & Tetso NCC Unit.

Seminar on MMA, Self Defense & Fitness

In an effort to promote living a healthy lifestyle and awareness of self-defense, a seminar was conducted by a team of certified and professional members from Strike-fit Academy, an MMA and Crossfit gym based in Dimapur on 15th September 2022.

Leading Together 2022 Dialogues on Inclusion and Sustainability

Tetso College participated at the International Conference ‘Leading Together 2022 Dialogues on Inclusion and Sustainability’ which was held in Stella Maris College, Chennai from 12th-13th September 2022.

The two-day International Conference aims to create a platform for young student leaders to hold cross-national and cross-disciplinary conversations. Eminent speakers and panelists addressed the audience sharing their valuable experiences and insights gained from different leadership positions. The Leading Together Dialogues is initiated by the University of Melbourne, Australia in collaboration with 4 participating institutions from India – Savitribai Phule Pune University, Stella Maris College, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and Tetso College.

Dept. of Mass Comm & Journalism Visit

The Department of Mass Communication & Journalism, Tetso College visited Hornbill TV, the first satellite TV channel in Nagaland, on 12th September 2022 to learn and experience firsthand the processes involved in broadcasting news. We are thankful to Mr. Mihir Kumar, the editor of the news channel who guided the entire team.

EU Outreach Programme

With ‘mission’ as one of the main aims of Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI), with the initiative of Tetso EU – Mission Secretaries, the members of Tetso College Evangelical Union had its outreach programme visitation at Galilee Children’s Home on 18th September 2022 to have a fellowship & an interaction session with the proprietor & the children.

CPR Workshop

A CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Workshop was conducted with Tetso NCC Cadets on 22nd September 2022 by Dr. K Lolo Ndang who specializes in Emergency Medicine and is accredited by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He has formerly worked as Medical Officer at CIHSR (Referral) Hospital, Dimapur and as Senior Resident in the critical care unit at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.

In the workshop, he demonstrated basic life saving skills, first aid measures, and also provided hands-on training on a CPR mannequin.

Leading Together Project Coordinator visit

Kirsty McKellar from the University of Melbourne visited Tetso College for a student interaction on 23rd September 2022. Kirsty McKellar was one of the Project Coordinators for the International Conference Leading Together event held from 12th-13th September 2022 in Chennai, which was attended by 4 of our UG students. She has been playing a key role in this initiative, mentored by Dr. Dolly Kikon, since the project was launched in 2021.

NSS Day

To celebrate the occasion of NSS Day on 24th September 2022, the NSS Unit of Tetso College visited Tribal Old Age Home cum Day Care Centre at Indisen, Dimapur and interacted with the senior citizens and caregivers.

TMC Felicitation Program

The Tetso Mountaineering Club held a felicitation program for outgoing executives on 26th September 2022 in the presence of Leut. Col. Joy Chowdhury (Chief Guest), Capt. Muskan Chahal (Special Guest) and other dignitaries.

Caption Writing Contest

Glimpses of the Caption Writing Contest organized by Tetso Writers’ Club on the theme ‘Healing Through Words: Challenges Faced by Today’s Young Adults’ on 29th September 2022.

Winner – Alikala Jamir, BCom 5th Semester

Caption – “The grief of love I hid from our family, the bruises I accepted as an expression of your emotions. Your gaze fills me with tears, a hope forever vanquished”.

Runner-up – Mijito V Yepthomi, BA 5th Semester, Political Science Honours

Caption – “We stand alone not because we want to but because we have to fight our own battles alone. Be it through storms, rainy or sunny days we must keep on persisting”.

‘The Naga Journey: Need of Realism and Reinvention’ with Kahuto Chishi Sumi

DOT Talks in collaboration with the Department of Political Science organized ‘The Naga Journey: Need of Realism and Reinvention’, the first inaugural seminar in the DOT Talks Seminar Series ‘New Nagaland – A Step Forward’ with resource speaker Kahuto Chishi Sumi, Social Activist & Gaon Bura of Hevishe Village on 30th September 2022.

In the seminar, Kahuto sought to examine the impact of modern culture, religion, society and government brought about by Colonialism, Christianity, Education, Nationalism, Democracy and Self-Government on the modern day Naga people.

Awareness Talk on STI/HIV/AIDS/POCSO Act

A weeklong Awareness Talk on STI/HIV/AIDS/POCSO Act (Sexual Child Abuse) kicked off on 3rd October 2022 with resource personnel from the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur conducting interactive sessions with students.

This programme is aimed at creating community awareness about health and a means to spread awareness among the students on prevention & education behaviour related to STI/HIV/AIDS/POCSO Act and on sexual & reproductive health.

Clean India Campaign

NSS Unit Tetso College took part in the Clean India Campaign by conducting social work and cleanliness drives in the main campus on 1st October 2022.

‘Tetso Tell A Tale’ – A Story Telling Competition

 

Tetso Book Club successfully organized ‘Tetso Tell A Tale’ – A Story Telling Competition on the theme “Coming of Age” on 7th October 2022 at Tetso Library.

Isatoli Chishi, BA 5th Semester, English Honours was declared the winner while Yimtiyong Longkumer, BA 3rd Semester, History Honours came second. Congratulations to the winners and all the participants!

World Mental Health Day

 

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2022, the Department of Psychology in collaboration with the District Mental Health Programme organized interaction programmes with parents and students on 8th & 10th October 2022 respectively.

The 2-day programme witnessed skit presentations, songs, reports, and awareness speeches on mental health by guest speakers from District Hospital Dimapur, State Mental Health Institute Kohima, among others.

Wildlife Week Celebration

20 students from BA 5th Semester participated in the Wildlife Week Celebration organized by Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar on 7th October 2022. Our students took part in Face Mask Painting Competition, Pledge & Signature Campaign and Pictorial Quiz during the programme. The winners for the Face Mask Painting Competition were – 1st Prize: Yongphula Yimchunger, 2nd Prize: Neimenuo Chadi, 3rd Prize: Richet Ozukum.

Historia Fête

The Department of History, Tetso College organized Historia Fête under the theme ‘Reimagining The Untold Narratives’ on 12th October 2022 bringing the past to life with a fun-packed programme of Folklore Dance, Drama, Music and Re-enactment.

In addition competitions such as War Cry (Howling), Pork Fat Eating, Historical Quiz and Stand-up Comedy were held. A special appearance by Vinika Yepthomi, Tetso Alumnus (2019), Artist under Task Force of Music and Arts (TAFMA), Former Member of ‘Pretty Rhythm’ was made.

CoMFIESTA ’22

The Department of Commerce & Management, Tetso College, held its annual commerce & management fest CoMFIESTA ’22 on the theme ‘Where Talents Meet’ on 14th October 2022. The inter-institutional fest was open to all institutions and witnessed a variety of performers and participants coming together to compete in events such as: Contrakeenos, Dramatisement, Mobile Legends, Business Talkathon, CoMFIESTA’s Got Talent, AD-Selfie and Sell it! Win it!

Glimpses from the Pow-woW Cosfest organized by Drama Club in collaboration with Art Club & Music Club on 15th October 2022.

Cyber Security Awareness Workshop

The Department of Computer Science, Tetso College in collaboration with NIELIT Kohima successfully organized a Cyber Security Awareness Workshop under the theme ‘See Yourself in Cyber’ on 19th October 2022 with resource persons Daniel Meren, Scientist ‘E’, NIELIT Kohima, A Morimenba Amer, Scientist ‘D’, NIELIT Kohima, & Atoshe Lohe, Forensic Analyst, NIELIT Kohima.

Jointly the resource speakers provided helpful tips for keeping identity, personal information and data secure while also disseminating useful and practical information against cyberattacks.

NSS Unit Swachhata

The NSS Unit of Tetso College organised a massive drive on Swachhata at their adopted village, Sovima, and parts of Unity Village on 19th October 2022. The objective of the cleanliness drive was for each NSS volunteer to collect 1.5 kgs of trash and plastic, followed by safe disposal of the collected waste material.

National Integration Tour

Glimpses of the National Integration Tour (Nagaland to Gujarat) organized by 43 Assam Rifles where 8 Tetso students participated from 29th September – 10th October 2022.

The touring group visited and witnessed India Gate, Sabarmati Ashram, Multimedia Water show in Akshardham Temple, Jamnagar Refinery Complex, Weapons Display by the 18th Maratha, NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), Aquarium Gallery, Nature Park and Robotics Gallery in Ahmedabad, Atal Bridge, Statue of Unity, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar.

Autumn Fest 2022

AUTUMN FEST 2022 was held on 21st October 2022 under the theme “The Mellowing Fall: Spirits on Hike” with Special Guest Kegwayhun Tep, President, Naga Students’ Federation.

Student Exchange Programme

Tetso College, Dimapur in collaboration with M.L Dahanukar College, Mumbai held a Student Exchange Programme from 12th September to 20th September and 10th October to 18th October 2022. The Mumbai group visited Nagaland on the first half of the program and the Nagaland group visited Mumbai on the second half respectively.

While in Nagaland the group from Mumbai were taken to visit several sites including Nagaland Bamboo Development center, NEZCC and Hollotoli School to understand grassroot level education in Nagaland. They were also taken on a trip to visit the Raj Bhavan Kohima, Heritage Village and Khonoma Village.

On the other hand the group from Tetso College while in Mumbai were taken to explore the difference in cultures, visiting the Gateway of India, Mount Mary church, Juhu Beach. Also, visiting Atlas University and attending a 3D workshop organized by PTVA’s institute of management to understand the differences in educational techniques. Both groups ended with a cultural evening on their ends to show and portray their different cultural practices and heritage, while also sharing with each other the beauty of their differences.

‘The Nagaland of My Dreams’ with Amos Ezung

DOT Talks in collaboration with the Department of Political Science held the second seminar in the DOT Talks Seminar Series ‘New Nagaland – A Step Forward’ titled ‘The Nagaland of My Dreams’ with resource speaker Amos Ezung, Chief Manager, Waste Management on 28th October 2022.

In his presentation, Amos Ezung highlighted his dream and vision for the state of Nagaland with the students. To fulfil that, he encouraged them to begin by inculcating basic civic sense such as following traffic rules, practising good hygiene, sanitation, and waste disposal habits, among others.

Congratulations to Visieu Sachii, Tetso NCC In-charge, on her promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. The head of the institute, Dr. Hewasa L Khing, handed over the promotion in a ceremony held on 8th September 2022.

Congratulations to Hanyo Luke Rungsung, Supervisor, Tetso College Higher Secondary, for completing the Orientation Course for Programme Officers, National Service Scheme organized by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India from 14th – 20th September 2022.

Tetso College is the overall champion of the 13th Convergence Fest 2022 organized by St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama.

Congratulations to the Tetso Warriors on winning second place in basketball and volleyball at ‘St Joseph Trophy’, organized by St Joseph University, Nagaland on 13th – 15th October 2022. During the three-day event, a total of 16 colleges and universities competed in football, basketball and volleyball.

Nyaveilou Pao (BBA, Class of 2018) is the winner in the Men’s Physique (Under 5’7) Category of the 1st NPC (National Physique Committee) Nagaland Championship, organised by the Nagaland Physique Alliance on 18th October 2022.

Congratulations to Khroriteii Lasuh, BA 3rd Semester, Sociology Honours for securing 3rd Position in Speech Competition on the topic ‘Avenue of Young Nagas in Entrepreneurship’ during the inter-collegiate youth talk and quiz competition on October 21 to commemorate 100 years of the Don Bosco’s Society presence in India (1922 – 2022) organized by Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) Dimapur.

Congratulations to Alovi Achumi, BA 5th Semester, Political Science Honours for winning Season 3 of the Nagaland Exotic Model Hunt organized by The Blue Curves under the theme “Escalate Fashion, Innovate You” at IMC Hall, Dimapur on October 2022.

Congratulations to Christine Tsela, BA 1st Semester, English Honours for being crowned the 2nd Runner-up of the first edition of Miss Tseminyu 2022 held under the theme, “Beauty with Wit” organized by Rengma Mother’s Association at CRBC ground, Tseminyu on 7th October 2022.

 

Condolences

Ramsewak Singh (01/01/1952 – 21/09/2022)

Ramsewak Singh started working with the college in 1996 and constructed all the buildings that Tetso College is using. The extent of his work and the positive impact he has made for the college reflects our own Mission and vision. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Moangkala Imchen (7/11/2003 – 1/10/2022)

The Tetso College Community conveys our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the family members, classmates, teachers and everyone who knew her, that God may grant peace, strength and comfort during this very difficult time.
