Leading Together 2022

Hello. I’m Kezha. I’m an undergrad senior at Tetso college, situated in a little northeastern state called Nagaland- a land renowned for its green hills and pot-holed roads, but mostly green hills. I’m 19, building a paper trail of articles and write ups to expand my career as a writer and academic researcher.  I have a keen mouth for politics and ideas, and like to engage in discourses on obscure topics with friends. In my free time, I’m usually playing the piano, planting and watering my succulents, or cycling round the neighborhood. I’m also a connoisseur of old books and a daydreaming veteran.

Some of my significant experiences/achievements include:

• Mr. Ekarikthin 2019- It was here that my self-confidence grew significantly after competing with remarkably articulated and passionate peers.  I was 1st runners up for the prestigious beauty pageant, refining my passion for self-discipline and public speaking.
• Face of Nagaland 2019- Mentored by Chow Poran Gogoi, one of Northeast India’s prominent pageant choreographers, the rigorous training for the event helped me inculcate excellent soft skills, as well as creative and analytical thinking. I was given the title Mr. Talent for a piano performance.
• Article publications titled “Unity and Integration of India” and “The Blame Game Dance”- These articles were published in the Morung Express with an aim to begin ‘producing’ write ups and challenge my own opinions. Because really, no matter how skilled I am, “If you don’t produce, you won’t thrive” (Cal Newport “Deep work”).

Hello, I am Yimtiyong Longkumer, a student of Tetso College, Sovima, currently pursuing my Bachelors in History. My love for learning my culture’s history and ethics led me to take History as my honours. My journey so far as a student of History has shown me so many aspects of the past that reflect the future as well as the present.

I love woodworking and sculpting, something my ancestors practiced and I would like to carry on this art and keep it thriving . I also sketch, draw and read during my pass time. I cycle regularly for exercise and to visit new places. I find joy in capturing moments in the form of photographs and my interests lie in creative activities where I can express my thoughts and emotions. I love to mingle with different people as we learn beyond academics from peers.

Some of my significant achievements include: 

• Winner of  Commercial Act inter-collegiate Edufiesta 2022 and quiz competition Psych fest 2022.
• Winner of collage making ,2nd runners up in painting competition,1st runners up in parable enactment and octet in Ao Baptist Church Diphupar Youth week.
• I also participated in the Leading Together: Dialogues on women and leadership in India and Australia 2021.
• Securing the top 7 position in HSSLC exam 2021 in Nagaland. 
• Article publication include “the danger of fake news and the threat it poses to our society ” for the degree of thought published in Morung express.

My name is Gilgal Ikror Horam, a 1st semester student of BA Education. As Tim Sanders have said, “Education without application is simply entertainment.” I strongly believe in the importance of learning through exposure and experience alongside academics. In my past years I have participated in the Model United Nations, have won a medal as the best speaker in a confluence held in Mumbai; I’ve taken part and won certificates in inter-school debate competitions. 

A notable platform which I received most recently was being one of the speakers in a webinar held on International Women’s Day. I enjoy the art of public speaking and have always found debates to be exhilarating. Personally I tell people that I simply like to argue when asked why I liked debating so much. When in all honesty, I find it to be the most interesting way of learning the different perspectives of people. 

It was through my participation in public speaking that I had gotten opportunities to visit different states, learn from various cultures and attitudes and have encountered many brilliant individuals during my journey. I am grateful to Tetso college for never ceasing to encourage students to be their best selves.

My name is Ahyule Keppen . I am currently pursuing BA Political Science in Tetso College, 2nd year. I belong to the Rengma Naga Tribe of Nagaland. I have been born and brought up in Nagaland, Dimapur and belong to the Christian community. The motto of my life is “ Seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything shall be added unto you “, which is taken from the Bible book of “Matthew 6 : 33”.

I am a very outgoing person who loves to explore new challenges, meeting new people and wiling to learn new things also eager to tackle obstacles in life, involving myself in many new things.

I enjoy writing, reading books, traveling and also music. In most of my leisure time, I spend writing poems , which to me is the best way to express my thoughts and also think deeper and analyse myself. Having conversations with people, my elders, and intellectuals  is also a really beneficial thing I enjoy doing. I am interested in becoming a wise Leader and lead my people to the truth, be independent, and develop together; intellectually and spiritually.

I take part in student representatives and also was apart of the Women football club during my higher secondary. Growing up as the eldest child in the family it taught me how to handle different situations and myself and family too. I believe leadership starts from Home. 

I am really looking forward to many more challenges and opportunities in life.
