As part of Vigilance Awareness Week, a Debate Competition on the theme ‘Corruption Free India for a Developed India’ was organized by the Office of the Commissioner, CGST Commissionerate, Dimapur for PG students of Tetso College on 3rd Novermber 2022.

Tetso College signs MoU with NIELIT Kohima for Tetso Students to pursue ICT courses & training programs in Tetso College. The objectives of this memorandum include setting up a Study Centre which will cater Student Exchange Programs for the purpose of internships to gain academic knowledge, research interests, and practical experience in IT & emerging technology.

We are happy to announce our new MoU with Mahendra’s. The MoU provides access to students all over Chumukedima district for competitive exam coaching right on campus at Tetso College. Mahendra’s coaching is one of India’s leading competitive exam coaching centers for SSC, Bank, Railway, NPSC and NSSB exams.

Kezhavikho Lhoushe, BA 5th Semester, Political Science Honours & Sungtinaro Jamir, BA 1st Semester, Psychology Honours, participated in the 2022 National Students as Partners Roundtable Program hosted by University of the Sunshine Coast on behalf of the Australian SaP Network on 22nd – 23rd November 2022.

The Roundtable program aims to explore and understand sustainability as a pathway to transformative change in teaching and learning. The Students as Partners ethos has strong connections to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as it adheres to concepts such as sustainability and ‘leaving no one behind’ in delivering powerful transformational change.

In commemoration of World AIDS Day (1st December 2022), the Red Ribbon Club held a POSTER & SLOGAN Competition on the theme “Equalize” emphasizing on eliminating the inequalities that have slowed the pace of fight against the disease.

SIA – Tetso and IWAS conducted a web-talk by Farhad Barakat on the topic Ezidis (Yezidis) of Iraq, through Conflict and Persecution – a Historical Perspective on 12th December 2022. Farhad Barakat is from Sinjar. He is an Ezidi activist and a cofounder of two nongovernmental organizations in Sinjar: ‘Progress in Peace’ and ‘Snabel Future organization’. He serves as the Area coordinator of ‘Progress in Peace’ organization in Sinjar. He is a graduate from the translation department of the College of Kurdish, Arabic, English and French languages at the University of Duhok, Kurdistan, Iraq.

A Futsal Ground & Cricket Pitch (sponsored by Nagaland Cricket Association) was inaugurated during the opening day of Tetso Olympics 2022 – the annual sports meet of Tetso College by special guest Abu Metha, Adviser to the Chief Minister, Nagaland, Vice- President, Athletics Federation of India, Chairman, National Mountain Running Committee, Secretary General, Nagaland Olympic Association on 7th December 2022 in the college campus at Sovima, Chumoukedima.

In the welcome address, Dr. Hewasa L. Khing, Principal, Tetso College warmly welcomed the dignitaries and the Tetso family members of Tetso and encouraged those students who have never taken part in games and sports to come out of one’s comfort zone and participate. A total of 6 teams – Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Mercury and Neptune – are competing in the three-day event this year.

Also in attendance was Amit Sengupta, Head of Press and Communications, British High Commission, Kolkata Office who shared his happiness to be present in the event.

Meanwhile, the crowd was enthralled by a special performance of ‘Wavin’ Flag’ by Kilangtemsu, BA 5th Semester, English Honours and Mengubeinuo, BA 5th Semester, Psychology Honours.

Following the order of the program, a message from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) was delivered by Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Secretary, NCA who shared greetings from the Association and highlighted the growing cricket scenario in Nagaland. He encouraged and requested the college to include cricket in the next edition.

Special guest Abu Metha shared his knowledge and encouraged the students with his motivating and insightful speech. “Tetso College is an inspiration that stands out not just in Nagaland but I think is one of the best higher education institutions in the whole of the Northeast. It is an institution that thinks out of the box with progressive leadership and the achievements of the students proves that this institution keeps pushing the envelope, keeps pushing boundaries,” he maintained.

Metha continued with his speech saying sports has the power to unify and transcend boundaries, taking the example of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Taking inspiration from the first black U.S. President Barack Obama’s life, Metha encouraged all the students to work hard to achieve their goals, aims and dreams. “This is the time to dream, it is now to strive for dreams and aspirations. Invest your efforts to develop your skills and do not deny the opportunities that come in our lives,” he added.

The three day event came to a close with the Overall Champion going to Team Jupiter. The Best Player of the Year was awarded to Easter Ngullie (Jupiter), BA 6th Semester, Economics Honours and the Best Disciplined Team to Saturn.

An Interactive Session titled ‘Reflections: Research & Higher Education in Norway – Facilitating the Study of Indigeneity and Religion in News Media in Nagaland’ was organized by the Research and Development Cell, Tetso College with resource person Aheli Moitra, Doctoral Research Fellow in Religious Studies, UiT – The Arctic University of Norway on 13th December 2022.

The event sought to deliberate and discuss research and the current state of Higher Education in Norway. Observations and comparative reflections on ideas and knowledge sharing on ways to imbibe and incorporate best practices towards improving education, working systems or functions was one of the focal points of the session. Aheli also shared about her research work which facilitates the study of indigeneity and religion in news media in Nagaland.

The Tetso NSS and Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with CIHSR organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Drive and Blood Grouping on 14th December 2022. A total of 20 students and staff participated in the drive.
