The Department of Psychology (5th Semester students) in collaboration with the Assam Down Town University, organized a 2 day (30th June – 1st July 2022) Educational Tour at Assam Down Town University (AdtU), Khankar Gaon, Assam. Altogether 26 students accompanied by 2 faculties were part of the educational tour.

 

A two-day Faith Revival organized by Faith Fellowship on 2nd & 3rd July 2022 was held on our campus. We witnessed a powerful time of worship and amazing messages from Pastors Jim and Kelly Tuttle, senior pastors, Faith Chapel, Syracuse, NYC, as the speakers.

We welcomed the UG 1st Semester students on Orientation Day on 5th July 2022.

The Department of Linguistics held an interaction for the department students on 6th July 2022 with Dr. T. Temsunungsang, Assistant Professor, who is currently teaching at The English & Foreign Languages University, Shillong.

He provided meaningful insights into the world of linguistics and emphasized strongly on the need to not only preserve but promote the Naga languages which face endangerment, without intervention.

Kivinoto A. Achumi, (BBA – Bachelor of Business Administration, Class of 2022), selected to join IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Jammu for MBA (HA & HM) presented a short speech on how to prepare for the CAT Exam, at Tetso College, Auditorium on 6th July 2022.

What is the CAT Exam?

Common Admission Test or CAT exam is a national level management aptitude test that a candidate has to clear for admission to the MBA courses offered by 20 IIMs and over 1,200 B-schools in India. Over two lakh candidates apply for the CAT exam every year which is conducted in computer based mode for two hours. The CAT question paper comprises MCQs & non-MCQs from Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability (QA). Difficulty level of the exam is moderate to high. Apart from MBA programmes, the CAT score is valid for admission to Executive MBA, PhD and FPM programmes.

Exam purpose – Admission into IIMs, SPJIMR, FMS, MDI, IMT and over 1,200 B-Schools in India

Congratulations to past and present members of the Tetso Family on joining the Education Fraternity by successfully clearing the NPSC exam for the Department of Higher Education, Nagaland.

Our Assistant Dean, Dr. Tatongkala, gave birth to a baby boy on 7th July 2022. Hearty congratulations to her!

Tetso College students performed a special song at Rengma Baptist Church Sovima on this year’s Tetso College Day of Prayer. The Council of Rengma Baptist Churches all over Nagaland have set 10th July 2022 as Tetso College Day of Prayer.

We would like to thank each and every member of the Tetso College family and other contributors for your prayers and support towards Niwamo Kath’s (Peon, Tetso College) operation. A total amount of ₹17,340 was raised and handed over to his family. God bless you all. Thank you for creating a positive impact in the world!

A webinar titled ‘Christian Faith vs New Thought’ organized by the Department of History was held on 14th July 2022 with resource speaker Dr. Sinu Rose, Postdoctoral Scholar at University of Kentucky.

Dr. Sinu Rose obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Hyderabad in 2021. Since September 2021, she has been working as a Post-Doctoral Scholar with teaching responsibilities at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, United States. She currently offers two 300-level Courses across Spring and Fall and one 300-level course in the Summer at the undergraduate level. Her research interests span various topics from religion to Indian history. Although her broader area of research is religion., she is particularly interested in working on Christianity and its diverse traditions. She is currently writing the manuscript for her book on Indigenous Christian Architecture in Kerala, which is preparing for publication.

Buhiu B. Lam (Class of 2015, English Honours) launched his debut book titled “The Khiamniungan Nagas: Pioneers & Achievers” on 10th July 2022 at Noklak Village.

“The objective of the book was to document and archive the biographies of the pioneers in various fields, their legacies and the achievers in National, Northeast and State levels. Along with the pioneers and achievers, I also mentioned the living testimony of how our people rescued the 20 American and Chinese survivors of the WWII plane crash in 1943. Also how our people rescued AZ Phizo while he was touring our region in 1954, special mention on the tradition of pottery making of Wui village and many more,” he said.

Congratulations to him on the success of the book and continue to strive for excellence!

Two awareness programmes were conducted on 13th July 2022 with various resource persons: 1) Session on Electronic and Electrical Waste Management presented by Sowete-u K Letro of E-circle. 2) Awareness of Dental Health and Various Dental Treatment Modules presented by Dr. Naomi Rio Zhimomi and Dr. Arihant Jain of Indian Dental Association.

Tetso College held its commencement ceremony for the outgoing Class of 2022 on the 15th of July, 2022 with Dr. Kethoser (Aniu) Kevichusa as the commencement speaker. This was the first in-person graduation exercise since the pandemic and a grand success with an impressive 351 candidates from various disciplines receiving their baccalaureate degrees for the completion of their respective courses.

The program began with the students’ procession led by the batch valedictorian along with the esteemed college heads, commencement speaker, special guests, and faculty. Attendees also included the parents of the students, various media persons, and well-wishers of the students and the college.

Following a powerful invocation by Rev. Candid Sareo, Dr. Hewasa Lorin took to the stage for the principal’s address. Dr. Lorin expressed her joy and gratitude to the Class of 2022 for their commendable efforts and encouraged the students to take the “Tetso Advantage” to continue achieving success in their future pursuits. She exhorted the students to take the sum of all the experiences they’ve had at Tetso to keep striving for excellence (Tetso’s motto), to keep being “committed and relentless” towards their aspirations and to keep “dreaming,” “thinking,” and especially “doing.” Dr. Lorin concluded her address by highlighting the importance of nurturing a like-minded community of Tetso alumni and to keep rooting for all within it.

The attendees were then serenaded with a special number by the Tetso Music Club after which Ms Akhumla Sangtam, the class valedictorian gave the Valedictorian Speech. Ms Akhumla topped the NU in BBA with an outstanding 6.62 CGPA, and expressed her immense gratitude to the Tetso management, faculty, and students for her achievements. She also thanked her parents for their unceasing support throughout her journey.

Then came the much-anticipated commencement address by Dr. Kethoser Kevichusa. Dr. Kevichusa elucidated upon the meaning of the word ‘commencement’ and how though as a ceremony it is seen as a conclusion, it actually means ‘to begin something.’  He also spoke of King David from the Bible and the importance of servanthood and service and how witnessing for the Lord need not necessarily be only by those fully involved in Christian ministry. He encouraged believing students to continue witnessing their faith whether in the religious or secular sphere.

The commencement exercise finally took place with students receiving their baccalaureate degrees from the esteemed Heads of Departments of Tetso, various Tetso faculty, and the special guests. The atmosphere was abuzz with cheers from proud attendees. The program then came to an end with a mass benediction after which photo sessions and meet and greets took place followed by a bountiful dinner.

The Department of History, Tetso College visited Geological Survey of India (GSI), Dimapur on the occasion of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on 15th July 2022.

Participating in a quiz competition on the theme ‘India’s Freedom Struggle’, Toka K. Achumi and Kivibo Kinny (BA 5th Semester, History Honours) bagged the first position while Vipeni Achumi and Walunila Longkumer stood second (BA 5th Semester, History Honours).

The students along with teachers also visited the museum and interacted with members of GSI.

The Tetso Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with CIHSR observed World Hepatitis Day on the 20th of July 2022 (Wednesday) at our College Auditorium.

Dr. Najir, Consultant, Community Dept. gave a presentation on Hepatitis and a skit was performed by the College of Nursing, CIHSR. The Tetso Red Ribbon Club members of BA 5th Semester also performed a group song.

The Tetso NCC Unit attended the Combined Annual Training Camp 2022 held from 11th – 20th July 2022 at Vidhya Bhawan Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur.

World Brain Day was celebrated to raise awareness and promote advocacy related to brain health. Based on the theme “Brain Health For All,” the Department of Psychology, Tetso College conducted a host of activities such as quiz, case presentations, video presentations, and awareness on how to keep the brain healthy.
