The Department of Commerce & Management went for an Educational Tour to Rajasthan and New Delhi from 28th December 2022 – 12th January 2023 with 4 teachers & 34 students. The tour started with Jaipur also known as the Pink City of Rajasthan where they visited Amerfort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Jaipur market near Hawa Mahal. At the reknowned textile industry – Rajasthan Textile Development Corporation, students learned about the manufacturing process of textiles. Other places of visitation included City Palace of Udaipur, Saheliyon Ki Bari Garden, Asia’s 2nd most haunted village – Kuldhara Village in Jaishelmer, camel rides, and jeep safari. They also attended an evening special program in the desert and relished authentic Rajasthani food. In New Delhi, the group explored the famous Red Fort, India Gate, Qutub Minar, Rajghat, Parliament House and Vivrant Delhi markets.

In an educational tour, the Department of Computer Science visited Manali and Delhi from 27th December 2022 – 3rd January 2023. The group visited some famous places in Manali such as Hadimba Temple, Manu Temple, Vashisht Temple, Old Manali Market, and many more. In Delhi, they visited places such as India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Noida, Agra, etc.

The Department of History visited Amritsar, Manali, and Delhi as a part of their educational tour from 27th December 2022 – 12th January 2023. The 30 students were accompanied by three professors. The students visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar and feasted on the Sikh community meal provided at the ‘Langar’ after which they visited Jallianwalla Bagh and the Wagah Border crossing which is famous for its flag-lowering ceremony and the fascinating yet bizarre display of nationalism. At Manali, they visited various tourist spots such as Solang Valley, Van Vihar National Park and Mall Road. The students reached Delhi amid a devastating cold wave which gripped most of the city. They visited the Qutb Minar, India Gate, Lotus Temple and various commercial and business centres.

The 6th Semester students of the Department of Psychology along with 3 assistant professors went for an educational tour to Manali, Shimla, and New Delhi from 3rd – 17th January 2023. The tour started with Manali where the group visited places like Hadimba Temple, Old Manali, Manu Temple, and Solang Valley. In Shimla, the group hiked up to the peak of Kufri, and visited The Ridge and Mall Road. Overall, the group had an adventurous experience at Manali and Shimla with activities such as ziplining, paragliding, skiing, Burma climb, horse riding, etc. In New Delhi, the group explored Red Fort and also visited and interacted with the professors of the Department of Psychology, North Campus, Delhi University. The tour group also explored various different markets, malls and play stations. It was a long, daring and tiresome journey, yet the group had an adventurous and an intensive learning experience.

The Department of English undertook an educational tour for 4th and 6th semester students to Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla and Manali from 22nd December 2022 – 5th January 2023. Altogether 20 students and 5 teachers of the Department participated in the educational tour. The team departed from Dimapur Railway Station on 22nd December and reached Delhi on 25th December. On 25th of December, the group attended the NCF (Naga Christian Fellowship) Delhi Christmas Service and performed a group song. Greetings were conveyed from the fellowship to our college. The team then visited Lotus Temple, Karol Bagh Market, Sarojini market and explored Select City Walk Mall in Delhi. In Shimla the team visited Kurfi Valley and Mall Road. The team visited Handippa Temple, Mall road and Solang Valley in Manali. The team had a refreshing time amidst the scenic beauty of the hills. The team departed from Delhi on 3rd of January and reached Dimapur on 5th of January. Overall, the team had an invigorating and adventurous learning experience, understanding the culture and appreciating the beauty of the cities. The students and teachers altogether had an absolutely fun time and a diverting experience.

The Department of Sociology organized an educational tour to Chandigarh, Shimla, Manali & New Delhi from 7th January 2023 – 18th January 2023 with 16 students of 6th Semester along with 2 teachers. The team started off the tour from Manali where they visited beautiful tourist locations like Solang Valley, Hadimba Temple, Mall Road, Monastery and Club House where the students got to experience the first snowfall, tried out new activities like zip lining, skiing, paragliding and rafting. At Hadimba Temple and the monastery, students learned about their religious practices and their culture. At Shimla, the team had the privilege to visit the scenic Kufri and Mall Road where they experienced horse riding and witnessed the different kinds of flora and fauna at the zoo. The team then moved ahead to Delhi visiting popular market places like Sarojini Nagar and Select City Mall and also famous monuments like The Red Fort and India Gate. Having the opportunity to visit such beautiful and significant places gave the team an opportunity to learn and witness first hand experience about the different cultures, the traditions and the customs of those places.

The Department of Education organized an educational tour to Chandigarh, Manali and Delhi from 3rd – 13th January 2023. Altogether 28 students including one teacher departed for the tour. The first trip was scheduled for Chandigarh where the students visited Rock garden and Rose garden. The visit to both the gardens were truly mesmerizing. Soon after, the team had to depart for Manali in Himachal Pradesh. The visit to Manali was really a thrilling and wonderful experience where the students got to witness the beauty of the valleys covered with snow. Everyone had fun filled moments in the Solang valley of Manali by engaging in adventurous activities such as zip line, paragliding, rafting, horse riding, skiing and various other fun filled activities. The visit to the top of Solang valley at the snow point was truly a gorgeous sight and a picturesque moment of life. In Delhi, the students visited various historical places such as India Gate, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Parliament House, Indira Gandhi Museum, etc. Also, the students had a great time shopping in some of the famous markets of New Delhi like Sarojini Nagar and Karol Bagh. In addition to these historical visits, the students also visited the zoo which was really fun. The department trip was truly an amazing and thrilling experience for everyone who was part of the tour.

The Department of Political Science planned and organized an educational tour to South India (Kochi, Alleppey, Goa and Mumbai) for BA 6th Semester students from 2nd – 16th January 2023. The 21 students accompanied by 2 professors reached Kochi first and visited the church boating point, Chinese Net Fishing, St. Francis Church (Vasco da Gama church). The group also visited the Ernakulam District Heritage Museum, immersing themselves in the beauty of exquisite artifacts. The group, by boat tours, witnessed the famous Willingdon Island, the first and largest man-made island in India and highlights of the Port of Kochi, Kochi Naval base, cruise liners, film shooting locations, commercial shipping and ferry trips. On the second day in Kochi, the group visited ‘the Venice of the East’, Alappuzha (Alleppey) hub of Kerala’s backwaters. Through water transport, the group witnessed the beauty of nature, experienced the traditional and modern houseboats, large agricultural fields, canals, lush greenery and experienced speed boat ride. The tour to Kochi ended by exploring lulu mall, local markets and fairs. In Goa, they explored places such as the Coco beach, a natural bridge between Candolim and Nerul and explored the traditional Portuguese villas and resorts. The group also went for Dolphin sightseeing by boat trip and spotted Fort Aguada and the 17th century lighthouse built by the Portuguese. In South Goa, the group visited Shri Manguesh Temple of Lord Shiva, the BigFoot Museum which depicts traditional Goan village life, the Abyss Marine Aquarium, horror house and experienced 12D theater. The Tour to Goa ended with the group visiting the Colva beach experiencing water activities such as parasailing, jet skiing and witnessing the sunset and seafood dinner. In Mumbai, the group visited the Mumbai Darshan Gateway of India, Nariman Point, Hanging Garden, Haji Ali Darga, Juhu Beach, Mumbai Ceiling Bridge, Marine Drive and Filmstar bungalow. The overall educational tour was an exceptional learning experience for both the students and the faculties.

 

BCA students completed a training in Python Programming at NIELIT Dimapur from 9th – 17th January 2023. During the training, students learned to understand Python as a useful scripting language for developers, learned to utilize the core tools, and got trained to acquire programming skills in Python.

The Roundtable program aims to explore and understand sustainability as a pathway to transformative change in teaching and learning. The Students as Partners ethos has strong connections to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as it adheres to concepts such as sustainability and ‘leaving no one behind’ in delivering powerful transformational change.

  • JUO Mhasirienuo Phewhuo, BA 6th Semester, and SGT Bokai K Zhimo, BA 4th Semester attended the Republic Day Camp (RDC) in New Delhi and received gold medals for winning the Group Song representing NER. They are the first two cadets from our college to attend this prestigious camp.

The Tetso Olympic Committee organized Tetso Olympics: Postgraduate Sports Meet 2023 on 9th – 10th February 2023, at the College Campus and Sovima Ground. Team Panthers emerged as the overall champions.

The Tetso NSS (Unit 1) held its Special Camp from 6th – 11th February 2023 wherein activities were conducted in the college campus, adopted village- Sovima, and Doyang. The selected campers tirelessly provided their worthwhile services in the Special Camp with activities such as creation of NSS park in the college campus, cleanliness drive at Chang Baptist Church, Sovima, distribution of DIY paper bags to the shopkeepers at adopted village, Sovima, to create awareness on plastic ban, camping at Doyang, poster making activity on Clean Election Campaign, among others.

  • Niboto Achumi, BCom 4th Semester, was declared the winner in Arm Wrestling.
  • 1st Runners Up in Futsal Tournament led by Captain Hamjei, BA 4th Semester, English Honours.
  • 2nd Runners Up in Futsal Tournament led by Captain Temjensunep, BBA 6th Semester.

Altogether, 28 students participated in various competitions of the Alcheringa Fest, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati from 2nd – 5th February 2023.

Tetso College Drama Club won the Folk Drama Competition held during Cultura 2023, organised by St. Joseph University, Ikishe Village, on 17th February, 2023.

Our new auditorium – Lorin Hall (in memory of Dr. P.S. Lorin) was officially inaugurated by Rev. Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary, Nagaland Baptist Church Council on 20th February 2023.

The 450+ seater multipurpose auditorium complete with state of the art SMD Full Color Concert Stage LED Screen Panel, audio, lighting, and air-conditioned seating will cater to large meetings, talk shows, presentations, and performances of the college.

The College Anthem – Strive For Excellence – was also launched during the programme in a special performance by Tetso Choir with composer Nise Meruno, acclaimed pianist and Yamaha artist.

In view of the upcoming General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the Electoral Literacy Club, Tetso College, and NBCC jointly organised a Clean Election Movement Nagaland Sensitisation Campaign on 20th February 2023 at Lorin Hall. This initiative is being standardized to create awareness among the public and to exercise a free and fair election as the foundation of a democratic government.

Panelists from different professions & thought leaders such as Dr Villo Naleo (Dean, Shalom Bible Seminary), Vitono Gugu Haralu (Social Worker), Kevitho Kera (Business Man), and Limasenla Jamir (Actress/Former Corporate Executive) spoke on diverse topics about election through facts or experiences, expressed opinions, and answered audience questions.

A special performance of Warrior’s Call was presented by the Colored Keys.

Tetso College Evangelical Union successfully conducted its Evangelistic Camp from 17th – 19th February 2023 at Youth Oasis Centre on the theme “Saved By Grace” ~ Ephesians 2:8 with Viketuo Chupou (President, Nagaland EGF) as the main speaker and Dr. Martemjen (Vice President, Dimapur EGF), David Koza (President UESI, Nagaland), and Edward Mariizii (UESI NL – staff, Dimapur) as the resource persons.

Overall, 60 people attended the camp (campers, speaker and resource persons). During the 3 day camp, campers were divided into 6 groups with a view to let each campers be active and learn more. The Union is grateful to the almighty God for the numerous blessings that were received during the Camp.

The IIIPR Cell & Business Club, Tetso College in collaboration with the Young Indians, Start-Up Nagaland and Educentre organized a “Workshop on Entrepreneurial Skill, Attitude & Behaviour Development” on 22nd February 2023.

The panelists were Er. Rishav Sethi (HoC, NITI), Nisuka Khulu (Co-owner, Aiko Greens), Er. Awolo Keppen (Asst. Manager, NTTC), Kangzang Zeliang (Founder & CEO, BCSS Constructions & Solutions) & Naina Daria (Advocate).

The resource speakers from different professions & thought leaders talked on entrepreneurship & personality development through real business world experiences and interacted with the audience.

2nd Place – Basketball competition (Girls). Tetso Warriors lost first position to SJU.

The Tetso Student Council in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club organized an open discussion for the Tetso Community to talk about the Nagaland Legislative Elections (NLA) 2023 on 24th February, 2023 at the Lorin Hall.

Moderated by Kvulo Lorin (Director), the panelists which included teachers and students deliberated on the issues of vote selling-buying, proxy voting, corruption, poll violence, etc. which have become commonplace during elections.

Tetso College NCC Unit organized a session on Awareness of Sustainable Environment in contribution with G20 Presidency on 24th February 2023 with special guest for the programme Dr Tolto Metha, Team Member, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency.

In his address, Dr Tolto Metha shared that a sustainable environment is one where human activities are balanced with the natural world to ensure the longevity of the planet’s resources. He emphasized that saving trees plays a critical role in achieving this balance.

In addition, trees provide habitats for a diverse range of animal species and help maintain the soil’s health, he added. In conclusion, he also encouraged the students to practise the habit of recycling and reusing.

The Department of English, Tetso College in association with DoTTalks, organized a Creative Writing Workshop with Ms Asenla Yanger Ozukum, Principal of Sakus Mission College, Dimapur as the resource person on 6th March 2023.

Asenla helped students develop an interest in learning different literary techniques to produce creative work, implement originality of thought in their writing, and urged the budding writers to explore new techniques.

While writing can be a difficult and sometimes frustrating process, she maintained that it’s important to stay disciplined and committed to your craft. Set goals for yourself and make writing a regular part of your routine, she added.

The Women Cell in collaboration with the IIIPR Cell and the Department of Psychology celebrated International Women’s Day on 7th March 2023 with three eminent Naga Women – Laisen Aier (Maxwell Leadership Certified Team Member), Patricia Zhimomi (Vice Principal, Christian Higher Secondary School), and Zubeno Mozhui (Founder, Hope Centre for Excellence).

Basing on the theme ‘Embrace Equity’, the resource speakers shared their insights and experiences on gender equality, women’s rights, women entrepreneurship and innovation, mentorship, and leadership roles, among others.

 

A DOT Talks Lecture titled ‘My Journey as a Civil Servant (UPSC Batch of 2010)’ was delivered by Tiainla Imchen, Deputy Director (Investigation), Serious Fraud Investigation Office, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, New Delhi as the resource speaker on 10th March 2023.

Drawing from her own experience, Tiainla shared general tips for cracking civil service exams such as creating a study plan, staying updated with current affairs, and also mentally preparing for it.

While cracking civil service exams requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, she assured the aspirants to keep practicing, stay positive, and stay focused on your goal. A Q&A session was also held at the end.

The Departments of English & Political Science, Tetso College organised a One – Day Postgraduate State Level Seminar on ‘Modernity Amidst the Indigenous Backdrop of Nagaland’ on 10th March 2023.

The seminar focused on preserving Naga indigenous culture and the Interface between Tradition and Modernity in the Naga Society. Altogether, Eleven presenters successfully presented their papers based on their findings and around 80 participants actively participated in the seminar.

A DOT Talks Lecture titled ‘Songs of Raengdailu: Rememory (ing) Poetry and Women’ was held with resource speaker Dr. Achingliu Kamei, Associate Professor, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, DU on 11th March 2023.

In her interaction, Dr. Achingliu maintained that in many cultures, women have been discouraged from pursuing poetry or other forms of artistic expression. However, despite these barriers, women poets have persisted and have made important contributions to the literary canon. Women have played an important role in the development of poetry and continue to make important contributions to the art form, she added.

The lecture was hosted by Manngai H Phom, Asst. Professor, Department of English while a Q&A session was scheduled towards the end.

The Department of Psychology organized a Workshop on Neuroscience on the theme: ‘The Many Facets of Neuroscience – Understanding your Brain, Molding your Path’ with Monika Chanu Chongtham, a Neuroscientist, as the resource speaker on 13th March 2023.

Divided into three sessions, Chongtham addressed the attendees on the notion of Neuroscience, fields of Neuroscience and the relation between Psychology and Neuroscience. She also provided an introduction to the mechanisms behind stress response and the brain, what causes anxiety, fear, depression, and how to mitigate the negative effect of stress and to use stress as a source of energy.

The workshop concluded with a Q&A interactive session with students giving their feedback.

Professor, Department of Linguistics on successfully completing her Ph.D on the thesis ‘Bilingual Language Processing: The Role of Socio­-Cultural and Linguistic Context’ from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences – Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. We are proud of your achievement and wish you additional accomplishment and success in the days to come!

Sepithrong L. Thonger, BBA 2nd Semester, has published his first ever book titled ‘The Brutal Reality’ to share his insights and experiences with others who may be struggling to come to terms with some of the harsh truths of life. The author states that 100% of the revenue generated from the book will be donated to support important causes to make a difference in the lives of those in need. The book is available on Amazon and Flipkart.

 

Congratulations to the Tetso Warriors on being crowned Champions (Men’s Category) & 1st Runner Up (Women’s Category) of the 3rd Inter College Basketball Tournament hosted by Immanuel College from 3rd – 4th February 2023. The Most Valuable Player Award was also bagged by Visulie Yaotsu from BBA 4th Semester.

Mijito V Yepthomi (left), BA 6th Semester Political Science Honours and member of Writers’ Club, is the winner of the Inter-College Essay Writing Competition, organized by Literary Committee, Unity College under the theme ‘Challenges and Problems in Contemporary Society: Accepting Transgenders in our Society’ on 14th February 2023.

Congratulations to Dr. Hima Sasidharan, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Linguistics & Yongkongnukla Ozukum, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Sociology on their recent publications.

Lhupraku Dozo, BCom 2nd Semester, participated in the ‘Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living’, a 21-day educational tour sponsored by the ABVP representing Nagaland with a member of 35 in number from 1st – 20th February 2023. The first destination was Uttar Pradesh, second to Jammu, third to Punjab and lastly to Madhya Pradesh. Programs on the importance of culture and traditions were held. The purpose was to create integrity and awareness and also the importance of culture across India.

Congratulations to Omeka Awomi, BA 4th Semester, on bagging 2nd Runners Up of Mr. Sumi Season II. Additionally he won Mr. Physique, Mr. Personality and Mr. Public Choice 2023, which was organized by Ecstatic Entertainment in collaboration with Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU).
