Principal’s Message
There is in this world, no such force as the force of a person determined to rise. The human soul cannot be permanently chained. – W.E.B Du Bois.
Dear Tetso College Community,
We warmly welcomed the Freshers of the HS, UG and PG Levels on 26th August 2022 with our Respected Chief Guest, Dr. S.C. Jamir who addressed us on important issues surrounding our Naga society.
He emphasised on two important points – i) the need to remove the toxic negativity and negative criticism over positive reinforcement and outlook ii) the importance of being global citizens to adapt and progress with the changes we are witnessing around the rest of the world. These I feel are two important points that we need to constantly remind ourselves about.
This year we have welcomed more than 700 students from across the various programmes and courses on offer. We have students from different boards, that include NBSE, CBSE, MBOSE, ICSE and more. We also have a diverse profile of students representing every district in Nagaland and different parts of Northeast – Arunachal, Manipur, Mizoram and beyond.
By joining Tetso College, you are joining a community of 2000 plus students. You are also joining a community of dreamers, thinkers and most importantly doers. Whatever reason you had for joining us, it is our firm belief that you are all meant to be here.
We have started off this semester on 5th of July for the UG 1st Sem, 18th June for the Class 11 and 25th August for the MA 1st Sem and already we have witnessed a host of activities by Departments and Clubs. The others are Kezhavikho Lhoushe, B.A. 5th Sem Political Science Hons, Yimtiyong Longkumer, B.A. 3rd Sem History Hons and Ahyule Keppen, B.A. 3rd Sem Political Science Hons.
There are many more opportunities coming up and I hope to see more of you participate and get involved. We cannot wait to see how much more talent all of you have to show us.
In September we will also be hosting students from M.L. Dahanukar College, Mumbai on a student exchange programme, while our students will be visiting them in October. We are also aware that we had many student sport players representing their respective districts at the Nagaland Olympics. Some of you came back with medals too. Dr. S. C. Jamir spoke on the Theme “A Tryst with the Future of Nagaland”. He stated the people of Nagaland had been witnessing the fragmentation of both underground and over-ground organizations into multiple factions with divergent outlook and agenda. Naga society is wasting precious time for things which are impossible to achieve and leaders have abdicated governance. We talk too much about the past forgetting about the fact that we must live in the present and mould the future. To reinvent and transform the Nagaland of today, the mindset of the Nagas will have to be rooted in contemporary realities. The world is now a global village due to developments in technology and is very competitive.
Our outlook and attitude have to be global. A self-centric approach will have to give way to an inclusive approach and short-term perspective will have to be replaced with a long-term perspective. The youth of Nagaland have to be the standard torch bearer of all the good that we have lived for and we seek.
