The Department of Education is organizing a webinar on the topic “Youth and Substance Abuse” scheduled on 24th February 2023 at 4:00 PM.
Abstract: Substance Abuse has been one of the chief concern among the youths and has been a matter of health problem globally. The prevalence of substance abuse among the youth is becoming an alarming factor causing harm not only to the individual but also negatively affecting the families and society as well. Therefore, this webinar aims to highlight the social and cultural aspects of drug abuse and make the students aware of the exploration of substance abuse among the youths, it’s prevalence and to encourage them to choose a healthy lifestyle. Through this webinar it would also enable the students to explore the causes, effects and control of substance addictions.
About the Speaker: Rohan Joy Rana has been actively working in the field of Drug Abuse Prevention and Rehabilitation for people suffering with Substance Dependence since 2013 in various organizations. He was working as a counselor in Kripa foundation, India (2013-2016), and at present too is working as a counselor at Nirmaan Rehabilitation, Assam (2016-present). He had been actively participating & conducting various Awareness Generation & Capacity Building programs. And has been an active service provider, well experienced in Substances Use Disorder & its associated conditions including facilitating both long term & short term treatment.
