Dear Students,

The Sociology Department will be celebrating Sociology Day on the theme of Sociology and its Relevance Today on 20th April 2021. There will be special presentations by the students and guest speaker Dr. Ruth Lalsiemsang Buongpui, Assistant Professor, Department of Tribal Affairs, Manipur University of Culture

Brief Bio-Data of the Guest Speaker: Dr. Ruth Lalsiemsang Buongpui is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tribal Studies, Manipur University of Culture. Specializes in Gender and Legal Pluralism, Customary law, Ethnomedicine, Ethnographic Studies. Had completed her PhD in Sociology from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. Has multiple  publications in Peer reviewed journals, and published in  four edited  books. Presented papers both at the  national and international conferences. Has undertaken a research project on “Monograph of the Hmars”, under the Tribal Research Institute, Govt. of Manipur.  Had been an invited panelist  and lecturer on several workshops, and  supervised several research works.

2. Life Member, Indian Association for Women’s Studies.
