Brief bio about the speakers:

Prof G. Aloysius
A renowned scholar in the field of sociology and history. He is known across the world for his quite influential book,  Nationalism Without A Nation in India (1997) published through Oxford University Press, New Delhi (13th reprint in 2011). Apart from this book he has published several booklets through Critical Quest, articles in national and international journals of repute on sociological aspects of Indian nationalism, cultural politics of caste, anti-caste movements in south India, the question of tribal identity and autonomy. Besides this, he was a visiting professor in various universities such as Delhi University, University of Heidelberg, University of Hyderabad, Jamia Millia Islamia, EFLU (Hyderabad), and also a recipient of various academic fellowships in India and abroad.

Chittibabu Padavala
A well-known Dalit Marxist scholar. He has written several articles, editorials, and critical reviews for various journals like EPW and national dailies. He was a recipient of DAAD visiting fellowship in the Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS), Göttingen University, Germany for his research work. He is currently working on his research entitled, “The Holocaust and the Social Sciences” from IIT Mumbai.
