We are honoured to announce that Dr. Gregory D. S. Anderson, Director of Living Tongues Institute will be our chief guest of the programme.
Dr. Gregory will also be presenting the special lecture during the event.

About the Speaker: Dr. Anderson is the Director of Living Tongues Institute and specializes in research on the languages of Siberia and tribal languages of India. Prof. Anderson is also featured in the movie ‘The Linguists’. He has degrees in Linguistics from Harvard (B.A. 1989) and the University of Chicago (Ph.D. 2000), and has conducted extensive fieldwork into the languages of the Altai Sayan group and among speakers of Munda languages in India. He has also done fieldwork and research on Tibeto-Burman languages in Arunachal Pradesh, and endangered languages in Bolivia, Papua New Guinea, Chile and Oregon. He has published widely in the fields of historical linguistics, descriptive grammar, morphology, verb typology etc.

About the Movie: The Linguist is an independent American documentary film about language extinction and language documentation. It follows two linguists, Dr. Gregory D. S. Anderson and Dr. K. David Harrison, as they travel around the world to collect recordings of some of the last speakers of three endangered languages in some of the most remote corners of the world: Chulym in Siberia; Sora in Orissa, India; and Kallawaya in Bolivia. The film was screened at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival,  and later had success on the “indie film circuit.”
