Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Nagaland’s Economy

The COVID-19 pandemic is not just a health crisis as it has disturbed the political, social, economic, religious, and financial structures of the entire world. Countries all over the world have resorted lockdowns in an effort to “flatten the curve” of the infection. Nagaland, on 21st March, implemented a complete lockdown in accordance with this preventive measure.. These lockdowns also meant confining citizens to their homes, shutting down businesses and ceasing almost all economic activity. Nagaland, which is still an economically underdeveloped state recording the highest unemployment rate, has suffered much damage to its already shrinking economy.Students of the Department of Economics, Tetso College, will be speaking on the impact of COVID-19 on the Economy of Nagaland, with special focus on unemployment, migration and labour displacement, tourism and hospitality industry, and agriculture and allied activities etc.,
