DOT Talks Lecture: My Journey as a Civil Servant
Resource Speaker: Tiainla Imchen, Deputy Director (Investigation), Serious Fraud Investigation Office, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, New Delhi

Concept Note: Coming from a background of government servants, the Civil Services were the natural choice as a career for me. However, having been placed in a Ministry which regulates the corporate sector, I have waded through unfamiliar waters, dealing with corporates from a government angle. From knowing almost nothing about the inner workings of the corporate sector to a certain degree of familiarity today, it has been a very interesting and sometimes tough journey as an officer for me. From my background and also with our Nagaland environment with hardly any corporate sector, learning on the job has been instrumental in becoming what I am as an officer today. I have drawn from my schooling and higher education which contributed the most towards my success in the Civil Services exam. The career options were more or less limited then. But today with the multiple options available, it becomes all the more important to make the right career choices. As students at such a crucial stage of life, it is so important to make informed decisions about career and educational options. This talk will focus on my personal experiences through the civil service journey and also revolve around students taking informed decisions about the future.
