About the Book: In the book, Seeds and Food Sovereignty: Eastern Himalayan Experiences, the authors centre community engagements and pedagogy to understand farming practices across the Eastern Himalayan region. Published by the North Eastern Social Research Centre, and also available as open access, through this book, the authors aim to facilitate new ways of learning together.. They hope that this book will inspire further engagements and research with ongoing farming initiatives and food sovereignty movements in the region.

About the resource persons: Dr. Dolly Kikon is an associate professor in Anthropology and Development Studies at the University of Melbourne. She received her PhD from Stanford University in 2013 and was a post-doctoral fellow at Stockholm University. Her work focuses on the political economy of extractive resources, militarization, migration, development initiatives, gender relations, food cultures, and human rights. Currently, she heads the Practicing Food Sovereignty project funded by the Swedish Research Council that focuses on Indigenous communities and agricultural practices in Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Northeast India.

Joel Rodrigues is the research coordinator for the Practicing Food Sovereignty project funded by Swedish Research Council. His writings have been featured in Gastronomica, Morung Express, and Raiot.in. He has a bachelor’s degree in mass media, and a master’s degree in peace and conflict studies. His research work engages with law, violence, memory, food, and media. Joel is also a freelance editor for academic publishing. Born in Mumbai, Joel has lived in Northeast India for a decade now.
