Debate Topic: “Online Education during the COVID-19 pandemic is justified”
The COVID-19 Pandemic led us to the situation that forced the abrupt closure of everything, including educational institutes; hampering the regular academic calendar, halting the ongoing regular classes at once. However, soon there was a shift to an online education system, revolutionizing the educational world, normalizing the notion that ‘online education is the new norm’. Though it was applauded for its merits, there has been criticism as well since not all educational institutes and people could afford to switch due to various reasons. Hence, it has led to a division in the society clearly demarcating various groups.
With the emergence of new academic session (after the result declaration) from July-August onwards, the question has resurfaced – “In relaxed lockdown condition, should the educational institutes carry on with virtual classes (to avoid the mass gatherings of the students), OR should they shift back to the traditional classroom teaching approach? Let’s tune in to what our debaters have got to say about it.
